💡 London Airport Tip - Long-Haul to the USA

For flights to Los Angeles and New York, most direct services operate from Heathrow (LHR). This is where you'll find Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, American Airlines, and United Airlines all competing on the same routes - which is exactly why prices stay competitive. Gatwick also has some long-haul options but the bulk of USA nonstop flights run through Heathrow's Terminal 2, 3, and 5. If you're heading to the US and want a direct flight, budget extra time for Heathrow - allow at least 3 hours before departure. The Heathrow Express from Paddington takes just 15 minutes and is the fastest way in.
